Frank Stella

Here are some examples of Frank Stella's work. His work have alot to do with shapes and colour. The colours that he uses all seem to compliment each other. His 3D model that is pictured below looks very interesting. It looks delicate and fragile while the right side of it looks strong and compact. I could explore ways in which i can make different 3D models to portray emotions, also i could play on the shape and texture.

Colour! Audi Advertisements

This was also done by Universal Everything. I like how the rays of colour create an image. I was looking at different ways in how colour don't necessarily represent an emotion or feeling. But how it can be used to create something. I think that this outcome is very successful and different. I could try to create something like this but making the colours betray an emotion.

Colour! Nike Advertisements

I really like the use of colour in both of these posters. These pieces were done by Universal Everything. The colours coming both of the basketball players all relate to the person from where they are wearing to their skin tone. I like how the colours are represented by shapes or lines. They also have a certain depth to it and also they look 3D. I would like to try something like this and see what it looks like for my fmp final project. I think that this idea is different and would look good for an outcome.

Jackson Pollock

Jackson Pollock, was an influential American painter and a major figure in the abstract expressionist movement. During his lifetime, Pollock enjoyed considerable fame and notoriety. He was regarded as a mostly reclusive artist. Most of Pollocks work involves splashes of paint on canvas. I think that his work communicates emotions. His work never looks calm which could reflect his personal life, he uses a lot of black paint which could represent that he was in a dark place. Also his work looks very dense which mean you can just about see the canvas that the has painted on.

Mark Rothko

I was looking at Mark Rothko's work and how the blocks of colour show different emotions or give off a certain feeling. Also the shapes are not neat but they are rectangular, they look very abstract. I would say that his work is very organised and most of his work seem to be centred.

My Proposal

With the FMP title being parents, i would like to focus my idea on Single Parenting. I will research all aspects of the area but i would like to focus my final outcome on the emotional stages that a single parent goes through. Whether it being happy, scared or frightened. I think that primary research will play a big part in this as it would be more personal. I would like to think that my final outcome would be a series of posters or maybe even a small book.
On the posters would be a mesh of colours showing the emotions of a single parent. I was thinking maybe i could clash the colours between how the parent is feeling and how the child/children are feeling. As the child would not be aware of how their parent is feeling. I could base the whole theme around my household as my mother is a single parent with 3 children. I didn't realise how much pressure my mother has until quite recently which has affected me in different ways and makes me think differently.
